Other Treatments

• Diet and nutrition - Eliminating certain foods may decrease the severity of IC symptoms.  

• TENS unit - This device, worn externally, relieves bladder pain in some people.

• ElectroMotive Drug Administration -  A method of ensuring a better uptake of drugs which are instilled into the bladder by catheter

• Surgery - This includes bladder augmentation and urinary diversion

• PTNS (Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation) - A treatment for Urge Incontinence which can help some IC sufferers  

• Neurostimulation - The use of small electrical stimuli to change the level of bladder symptoms.

• Intermittent Self-Catheterisation (ISC) - This is a method of emptying the bladder using a catheter when an individual is not able to either fully empty their bladder or is unable to start urine flow.

• Uribags - a discreet, pocket-sized urinal which will fit into a handbag or the glove box in a car.

• Complementary Therapies - There are many alternative treatments that IC sufferers have had success with.
